Relax and Reflect

Great way to spend focused and fun time within a manageable timeframe. Pace was perfect, and found I both knew more and less than I thought I did. Also appreciate the appeal, value, and understanding about balanced involvement. In the beginning hated the reminder, and after a few weeks looked forward to them, guess that is a testimonial!

Let the Games Begin

Now they have begun, will they ever end. Uh-oh, trouble. Played Word Sense and am hooked. Utterly addictive. Know why I have been avoiding these. Great learning and practice tools. Haven't checked yet, but will re finding "library" games. Is that decimal point really just a bun in disguise?

Google Earth is Heaven Sent

I love using Google Earth when planning a trip, whether it is local or to other continents. When i first downloaded it literally spent hours on it. Happy to look at it in a broader way today, since new features have been added that I haven't taken the time to investigate.

Confess though, that seeing my car in front of my house is fabulous and unsettling.

Avatar Pretense

Interesting, especially for gamers and people who love creating other selves -- why interact with someone when you can create a cushion from reality? Imaginary pain, imaginary joy, inside looking out, outside looking in.

Thoughts of ninth life more intriguing than second, but maybe I am just being catty.

Google Docs & Zoho

Have wanted to try online applications for awhile and have been putting it off. Will definitely test more and use. First try, Google Doc worked better for me than Zoho. Easy to upload a document with Google, and stumped by Zoho -- will check with master Jim for some tips.

This will be a wonderful resource when traveling and wanting to work on a document using someone else's computer.

Search Engine Laziness Abandoned

Yes, have been lazy. Appreciate being reminded of the UC Berkeley Search Engine comparison chart, as well as the need to use Google in a smarter way. Had used Dogpile and Mama previously and still unimpressed.

Try Sno-Isle Libraries on all these, Google "does us" better.

Podcast Favorite

Ear Ideas is a wonderful resource http://earideas.com/earideas/explore. Think we should do more with suggested podcasts, especially from colleges and universities.

Another favorite of mine is Financial Times writer Lucy Kellaway http://podcast.ft.com/?section=lucykellaway

Cards, mag covers, and cut-ups

Fun, could end up spending too much time. Wonderful tools to get creative and get in the zone of quick creation. Downloaded many images for many future uses.

OverDrive me nuts!

Nice selections and especially convenient having various options among books, musics, etc. However, forgot cannot download to a Mac which I have at home. Went ahead anyways and downloaded what I thought was necessary, then got a couple of errors re media identification and MS security update. So for now the sound of silence at home and work.

Del.icio.us Tidbits

I use the silweb del.icio.us listing often, both for personal and work use and have shared it with many people. Although I have my own account, find I have been using the combination of "my yahoo" bookmarks and Bloglines clipping file more consistently. As a result of this assignment will try using it again.

Wikis

Like the potential of group contibution and ability to archive. Also like the flexibility to create developing projects, such as the SJCL Subject Guides.

YouTube, Hulu, Fancast

I've been sending and receiving YouTubes for quite awhile. Particularly like the ease of finding videos on certain topics. One of my favorites is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLc_7WJ2xp0.

Was not familiar with Hulu or Fancast, although I had heard of them. In looking at each of these, think I may check Fancast every so often, prefer their content and ease of navigation.

Pandora

Extraordinarily easy to use, fun, fairly decent choice for light listening.

Social Networking -- not my cup o'jo

Signed up for LinkedIn. Interesting, but since profile choices are numerous, really hit or miss in terms of what you can find out about people. On the plus side, since I was not really interested in fully participating and doing the trial, happy I did not have to provide much information.

Flickr Dishing it Out

Sometimes just the right thing, sometimes just too many choices. Tend to use when someone refers me to an image, rather than trolling on my own. Do enjoy the various library signs, especially the awful and/or funny ones.

RSS Kudos

Have been using Bloglines for RSS feeds for almost two years and it has saved me a lot of time, while being an easy way to keep up with information of continued interest. In addition to listing various feeds, it is super easy to add a feed when you happen on one you find interesting. Also easy to unsubscribe when the feed becomes less interesting or useful.

IM aha's sf (so far)

Fun, but more so using a small device. With practice could get hooked. Know there must be a way to pun w. IM, luckily not proficient yet. Am thinking it might be fun to do IM haiku, but jat (just a thought) rn (right now).

Adding Perspective

Felt the need to add an image and then decided to expand the viewpoints of a London shot.

Penni Vogel Web 2.0 Ramblings

Confession, I read blogs, lurk around, get ideas, pass ideas on. The "however" is I have not been seduced or interested in sharing my thoughts, unless when required. Strange, since I share my thoughts in other ways and probably way too often.Publish Post
